Pre-Conference illo blast!

Lucy and I are packing our bags for ICON 5 (July 2nd - 5th) in New York! We'll be leaving this Sunday and have a few days to roam the city before the conference activities take place.

I've got a handful of new postcards, business cards and small books (18 pages) to pass out. I also have a shiny new portfolio to show the ADs at the Roadshow, a three hour block where 100 illustrators have a table showcasing their 'goodies'. Art Directors will come around to gaze upon my wonderful work :) and hopefully take a card and book...or at least sign my guest book!

This is my 3rd illustration conference ('01 and '03) and both were learning experience while being creatively stimulating. The charge you get after spending 3-4 days w/ other 'creatives' in your field is exactly what the illustrator needs. I spend 95% of my time alone sitting behind a computer and table so conversing w/ other illustrators helps me to feel part of the outside world and gives the confidence to keep working hard.

I won't have a site update before the conference but look for one this fall. Until then, I'll keep posting new stuff to my blog. Here are some recent illustrations - look for them on shelves near you! Thanks James, Amanda, and Chris!
