The 'Babe' shrine.

I'm still on my roll illustrating the theme of 'baseball'. Combine this w/ the Illustration Friday word of the week ('Homage'), and I came up w/ the 'Babe' shrine.
George 'Babe' Ruth is probably the most recognizable sports figure ever. He had a larger-than-life personality both on/off the field creating an almost mythical figure. The Babe still has numerous career and single season records that still stand today! He hit monster home runs and had a huge appetite for the life after the game - women, drinking, and food.
His shrine is topped by the 'House that Ruth built', Yankee Stadium. Little Yankee angels hit and field around the Babe as he finishes swatting another 'tater.
The illustration is completed w/ ink, a brush, and quill pen. I may get around to coloring it later.

This is a very cool illustration. I like your style and very bold.
Fine illustration! Line quality, expression, composition - it's all great, including the concept. You've even got Babe Ruth in his slimmer days. I like the sandwich at his feet and the candles to indicate 'shrine'. Nice touches all around.
oh my! You've hit a home run with this illustration! What a great "homage"!
