2007 Kansas City Marathon T-shirt and medals

I just wrapped up the 2007 medals and t-shirt for the Kansas City Marathon. There are four medals total: 1 diecut, color medal (full marathon) and 3 circular medals (5k, half-marathon, and marathon relay) The 'black' on the three medals will be ingraved leaving the 'white' at surface level.

Instead of a completely different design for the tee like last year, they wanted it to reflect the medal design. Since I don't have the same restraints designing the tee like I do with the medal (colors can't tougc on the medal design), I added a few highlights/shadows and closed up the spaces between colors.

Last year, I was asked to do them very late in the process and finished just in time for the race (enough medals weren't order for the race either and had to be shipped to the runners later). It was nice finishing the months in advance.

Simplifying water into a 'hard' shape isn't easy so I hope I pulled it off. The medals depicts a prominent fountain in downtown Kansas City (also known as the 'City of Fountains'). I'm working on the Marathon t-shirt now and should have it finished soon.
