Thomas Adams and his 'stretching' gum

I actually had some freetime today after a terribly busy last week so I figured I would use it to do the latest 'Illo Friday' topic - 'invention'.

Even though not exactly 'historically' acurate (cultures have been chewing gum-like substances for thousands of years). Thomas Adams did invent what we know today as chewing gum. He called it, "New York Snapping and Stretching Gum."

Great, exept Thomas Adams, was acutally making tires and other rubber products. Then one day he took some syurplus and put it in his mouth. Thus chewing gum was made.

So he never was creating the bubble gum as the picture portays.
