Illustration Friday (imagine)

When I started this week's 'IF', I had planned to do my usual 'fun 'n goofy' illustrations...and I did! (I still may post 'em). But when I got ready to post the illo on the 'IF' website, I had another idea. After seeing the voting in Iraq this week and watching Bush's speech last night, I wanted to do a political illo. Whether you're for or against the war in Iraq, you have to feel moved when you see the men and women holding their fingers aloft covered in purple ink. They seem to realize the magnitude of the event and are imagining the future of their country. I modeled my illo after the Statue of Liberty and how both 'Lady Liberty' and the Iraqi people are 'illuminating the struggle for freedom.'
